Outer Boundary Magazine is happy to accept content submissions for any issue as long as the following policy is adhered to. It is our policy to allow untapped talent in the outdoor industry a chance at proving themselves through submissions to Outer Boundary Magazine. Submissions are not guaranteed to be used in any issue and any use is left to the discretion of Moose Track Publishing.
Written Contributions
Submissions must be sent in Word document format via email.
Submissions must be family friendly.
Submissions must be written properly with little to no corrections needed.
Submissions must be between 1,400 to 1,800 words long.
Submissions must be received three months prior to issue release.
Content must be cutting edge. No advertorials. High resolution photos relevant to the submission must be included.
Submissions cannot contain product references or pictures unless paid advertisements from manufacturer accompany the article.
Submission focal point cannot be a particular product, brand name or sponsor group.
Submissions must be original work with exclusive first use and unlimited use rights to Outer Boundary Magazine.
Submission facts must be backed up with legitimate documentation (i.e. government documents, court documents, company press releases.
Proper grammar must be used.
No obscene or inflammatory language.
All written content must be double spaced inbetween sentances.
Contributors can contact Outer Boundary Magazine for acceptable article ideas.
Photo Contributions
Photos must be sent in resolution 300dpi or greater.
Photos must be naturally sized greater than 5” X 5” or 8” X 11” for full page.
Photos cannot contain products or logos of companies and products not advertised in Outer Boundary Magazine.
Photos must be relevant to issue content and magazine mission.
Cover photos are by contract only. No obscene or inflammatory photos.
Photos can be submitted at any time and subject content for issues can be provided upon request.
Photos must be original work with exclusive first use and unlimited use rights to Outer Boundary Magazine
Payments
Payments for used submissions will be made when the issue featuring the submission is sent off for printing.
Articles – Properly written articles with included photos receive $100
Articles needing minor proofing receive $50
Articles needing minor proofing and missing accompanying photos receive $25
Rejected and unused submissions will receive no payment.
Articles needing major proofing will be rejected.
Payments will be delayed for late submissions.
Photos – Properly submitted and accepted photos receive $50
Low resolution photos will be rejected
Contributors and Promotions
Definition of “Paid Contributor” - Any individual receiving monetary compensation from Moose Track Publishing for Outer Boundary Magazine including but not limited to article submissions, photo submissions and distribution reimbursements.
Definition of “Promoted Individual” – Any individual featured, shown or incorporated into Outer Boundary Magazine with the intent to give exposure and name recognition to the individual.
Paid contributors are NOT allowed to promote websites, promote products, promote business locations, promote causes, and no pictures of attire with logos of sponsors along with any other situation deemed appropriate by Moose Track Publishing.
Unpaid contributors are allowed to mention personal websites and promote causes. Product promotion, business location promotion and logos of sponsors not advertising in Outer Boundary Magazine are NOT permitted.
Promoted individuals in Outer Boundary Magazine will NOT be compensated monetarily from Moose Track Publishing for any reason. Promoted individuals are NOT allowed to promote sponsors (through words or logos), business locations, or products. Promoting personal websites, causes and general locations are permitted.
Promotions must have a reciprocating effect...Contact Outer Boundary Magazine for details.
Contributors are allowed to include a small head shot for article recognition as long as the photo does not show any sponsor logo or a specific product brand.
Priority Subject Matter
The following subjects will take priority for publication above all others:
Hard hitting outdoor investigative subjects
Outdoor corruption subjects
In-depth environmental subjects
Family outdoor adventure subjects
Outdoor industry insight subjects
Unique outdoor subjects
Cover Shots
Outer Boundary Magazine will no longer place individuals or products with identifying marketing logos on the cover unless the owner of the identifying marks contracted advertising within the issue. This includes (but not limited to) logos, names, trademarks and identifiable patterns. This will include identifying marks on apparel, hats and equipment.
